Smart Demand Response (SmartDR) Program

The Smart Demand Response Program offers larger commercial, industrial and institutional customers in the TEP service area the opportunity to reduce their energy costs if they agree to curtail their energy use when the demand for power is high or there are system constraints.

The program provides quarterly bill credits to larger customers for helping TEP ensure that energy remains reliable and affordable for everyone.

How the program works

When the demand for energy is high, TEP will contact program participants and ask that they reduce their usage according to their Energy Reduction Plan. Usually, curtailing a few operational systems such as motors, refrigeration and lighting in certain areas for several hours when requested is enough to qualify for participation in the program.
