We answer common questions fielded by our Commercial Customer Service Representatives, who specialize in helping businesses, nonprofit groups and schools. George Larrinaga answers this month’s question.
I’m interested in getting solar energy for our business. Can you share the options and the next steps?
While TEP doesn’t sell or install solar panels, we’re happy to help you get started.
Our GoSolar Shares program allows you to buy some or all of your power from local TEP solar arrays on a flexible, month-to-month basis by purchasing 150-kilowatt-hour “shares.” You won’t have to buy or lease panels up front, and you’ll get the benefit of knowing some or potentially all of your energy use is powered by renewable resources. Each share adds about $1.50 a month to your electric bill, helping us expand our renewable energy resources and reduce our community’s reliance on fossil fuels
Another option is to buy or lease a private photovoltaic (PV) system from a solar provider. We suggest that you research installation companies to ensure they hold the appropriate licenses. Seek at least three quotes before choosing a company. The provider will submit an application on your behalf to connect to TEP’s local energy grid. Even after your system is installed, you’ll need TEP to provide reliable, around-the-clock energy and other support.
TEP employees are standing by to help you with any questions you may have.
