2017 Community Impact Grant winners

For Immediate Release: July 5, 2018

Tucson Electric Power will award $135,000 in Community Impact Grants this year to support nonprofit agency programs that improve education, protect the environment and provide assistance to limited-income residents.

TEP will begin accepting applications on Monday, July 16. Grant guidelines and applications are available at tep.com/community-impact-grants. Applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m. MST Monday, July 30.

TEP’s Community Impact Grants are funded with corporate resources, not customers’ rates. They represent just part of TEP’s ongoing philanthropic support for charitable programs that improve the quality of life in the communities we serve.

One-year grants are awarded to nonprofit groups that meet eligibility guidelines and focus their efforts on one of these three areas:

  • Education. Eligible programs include preschool through 12th grade enrichment activities that align with core curricula; classroom supplies and field trips; teacher support; and science, technology, engineering and math activities.
  • Environmental protection and sustainability. Local or statewide programs and projects that support efforts to preserve and protect air, land, water and habitat may qualify.
  • Community Assistance. Qualifying programs provide services that help limited-income families gain financial stability, promote workforce development and help individuals affected by homelessness, domestic violence, poverty, child abuse and substance abuse.

TEP will award a total of $125,000 to nonprofits in Pima County and $10,000 to organizations in the White Mountain/Springerville area. Grants to individual agencies will range from $1,000 to $50,000.

TEP Community Impact Grants are awarded annually through a competitive process. TEP employees evaluate proposals and select grant recipients based on their program’s effectiveness, sustainability, and financial and organizational stability. Agencies are encouraged to use the grants to qualify for additional or matching funding to support their programs.

TEP provides safe, reliable and affordable electric service to approximately 424,000 customers in Southern Arizona.
