With the New Year underway, businesses have an opportunity to set goals to optimize operations, enhance sustainability, and boost energy efficiency.
We’re providing six impactful New Year’s resolutions to help your business excel in the year ahead.
“By adopting these resolutions, your business can contribute to a sustainable future,” said Edith Garcia, a Senior Program Manager for TEP’s Energy Programs. “Small changes can lead to significant savings over time, making 2025 a year of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.”
1. Prioritize Energy Efficiency
Maximizing energy efficiency can make a huge difference in reducing operational costs. Start by requesting an energy audit to pinpoint areas of waste and potential improvements. TEP experts can guide you for a customized review of your workplace to identify energy-saving opportunities and potential rebates through our Free Rebate Assessment program.
Upgrading to energy-efficient HVAC systems and lighting can notably decrease power usage.
Commit to:
- Scheduling regular HVAC maintenance
- Replacing outdated lighting with LED bulbs, which consume up to 75 percent less energy
- Installing occupancy sensors and smart thermostats for automated energy control
2. Consider Renewable Energy
Make 2025 your year of sustainability. Consider renewable energy options such as TEP’s GoSolar Shares program. It’s an easy, affordable way to buy power from TEP’s local community-scale systems in monthly 150-kilowatt-hour “shares.” You can buy enough to cover some or potentially all of your energy use, offsetting your need for power from conventional resources.
3. Find the Right Plan
When you use energy can be just as important as how much you use. You might consider whether you’re on the right pricing plan for your needs, particularly if your business has the flexibility to shift energy usage to times of lower energy demand. Two of our business plans include time-of-use rates that offer discounts for usage during off-peak hours.
Commit to:
- Reviewing your rate plan to identify what works for your workplace
- Scheduling heavy equipment or other energy-intensive operations outside of peak times
- Pre-cooling or pre-heating rooms to reduce energy use during high-demand periods
4. Cultivate an Energy-Conscious Culture
Make energy conservation a collaborative effort at your workplace. Involve your employees in energy-saving efforts by fostering a culture of sustainability.
Encourage employees to report energy waste and suggest improvements. Friendly competitions between departments can also foster a sense of shared responsibility for energy savings. Share regular reminders on conservation habits.

5. Leverage Rebates and Incentives to Invest in Smart Technology
Take advantage of rebates and incentives for energy-efficient upgrades. Research available programs to reduce the cost of energy-saving investments. Smart technologies, such as energy management systems, allow you to monitor and control devices remotely. These systems can identify inefficiencies, helping you streamline operations and reduce energy waste.
6. Get a Charge
Energize your business and demonstrate your commitment to sustainability by installing charging ports for electric vehicles (EVs) at your facility. This will both support employees who drive electric vehicles and entice customers to patronize your business. TEP can help with rebates and advice on how to get started through our Smart EV Charging Program.
