When fans cheer on the Wildcats at Arizona Stadium this fall, they also can learn how to be energy efficient and win prizes from Tucson Electric Power.
TEP will have a booth at every University of Arizona football home game to spread the word about programs that offer rebates on air conditioners, discounts on shade trees and energy-efficient LED and CFL bulbs, and other benefits for customers. Attendees can gather information and spin a wheel to win prizes, including rally towels and clear stadium bags, at TEP’s booth on the north side of the upper level.
Last season, TEP energy efficiency experts visited with customers at a few football games and found that it was popular. Some fans lined up for a half-hour for the chance to get a rally towel, said Leslie Waters, a TEP Energy Efficiency Program Coordinator.
“It’s great to interact with our customers. They love it, and we love it,” Waters said.
In addition to the football games, TEP is expanding its outreach through a partnership with Arizona Bilingual News.
In September, TEP employees gave out information and helped limited-income customers sign up for assistance programs during a Mexican Independence Day celebration at Armory Park.
Next with Arizona Bilingual News, TEP employees will attend a Thanksgiving event, Festival de Dar Gracias, on Nov. 19 at the Tucson Clinica Medica Familiar, 3770 S. 16th Ave.
“This partnership will help us reach more customers who could benefit from our programs,” Waters said.
