Interruptible Service

Flex your business’ energy use and save with the Interruptible Service program.

If your business operations allow for flexible energy use, you can save with TEP’s Interruptible Service program. Participating commercial customers receive a bill credit by agreeing to service interruptions that help TEP manage its energy resources efficiently, especially during times of high demand.

Bill credits are issued for the months during which the interruptions occur. This typically occurs from May through September. The length and frequency of outages are limited, and TEP gives participants a 30-minute notice before the interruption. Under this program, customers agree to allow TEP to interrupt service at any time for any reason.

The monthly credit is calculated based on TEP’s Market Value Capacity Price (MVCP) and the amount of interruptible capacity in kilowatts (kW) that participating customers agree to curtail.

The Interruptible Service program is available to customers using pricing plans designed for demand that exceeds 3,000 kW. Participants must agree to curtail at least 1,000 kW of electric demand at a single service point.

Participating customers are responsible for the installation and maintenance of communication, relay and breaker equipment needed to qualify for service and all related expenses. TEP also must inspect and approve all equipment installed. Participants waive their right to submit claims for any loss or damage caused by service interruptions.

To participate in this program, companies must subscribe between March 15–April 15 of each program year.

The current MVCP value for May 2024 through September 2024 is $4.01 per kW.
