For Immediate Release: Dec. 6, 2018
Tucson, Ariz. – Tucson Electric Power (TEP) is proud to support a Tucson tradition with its sponsorship of the 69th annual Winterhaven Festival of Lights, a community event that attracts more than 100,000 visitors every year.
As the festival’s title sponsor for the second year in a row, TEP provides funding, signage and hundreds of strings of energy efficient LED lights. The company also deployed dozens of employees last week in bucket trucks to help string lights atop the neighborhood’s tallest trees.
Everyone is invited to the midtown neighborhood to enjoy the elaborately illuminated holiday displays designed and installed by residents. TEP’s $40,000 annual sponsorship helps the nonprofit organization that runs the festival to pay for security, traffic control, insurance, portable bathrooms and other needs.
“The Festival of Lights provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a family-friendly event during the holidays, so we’re proud to be a sponsor. It’s our holiday gift to the community,” said David G. Hutchens, TEP’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
On select nights, TEP will distribute information about energy-efficiency programs to help customers “Think Green and Save Green.” TEP employees also will volunteer on Dec. 19 to help neighborhood residents collect donations for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
The festival runs Dec. 8-26 from 6-10 p.m. every night. For more information, visit winterhavenfestival.org.
TEP provides safe, reliable and affordable electric service to approximately 424,000 customers in Southern Arizona. For more information, visit tep.com.
