Should we close a door to a guest room not being used to keep heat from warming the rest of the house when it is in the high 80's and the air is not being used?
By: sandy0 CommentsWhy are we (e.g., collectively U.S.A) lagging so far behind other countries on renewable energy R&D implementation specifically solar/hydrogen renewable energy. What is keeping our nation from Hydrogen Fuel Cell commercial affordability and practicallity? Germany is expected to cover $2.6 billion cost of creating a hydrogen fuel network. The cost of generating an hour of electricity with a hydrogen fuel cell has fallen more then 20% since 2007, which would make hydrogen competitive with numerous fossil fuels. Both the impact of mass production solar energy projects on federal lands & open pit mine tailing impoundments could significantly reduced cost, environmental impact, green house gas emissions (e.g.,<48 CO2 emiision grams per mile hydrogen produced by water) was produced at this future sites solar energy. The use of solar/hydrogen at minetailing impoundments / federal lands would decrease the current 85-90% of hydrogen fuel produced currently from natural gas (e.g., 210 grams per mile CO2 emission). footnote: refference for statements taken from Businessweek magazine, new business section 10/5/09 page 36 & U.S. Dept of Energy: "Projections based on state of technology in 2020"

-Consumer advocacy support for homeowners installing green solutions for their home. (We recently installed a minisplit HVAC by Samsung that does not work properly. It is a nightmare. Our contractor has just promised to either fix it or take it out.
By: Patty Burks0 CommentsI saw on the news last night that you all are going to build more solar power stations and I was very encouraged by this news. I think that solar energy will be key for the energy future of Tucson. We have such an abundance of sun light that we should use it to reduce our dependence on coal energy that damages the earth so heavily. I want to tell you all to keep up the good work and to keep building solar!
By: James George Cross1 CommentHundreds of watts in savings over halogen in torchlamps for about the same cost as flourescent but better light then either.
By: Karl0 CommentsHow can i convert my hot water heater to solar? thanks, EJ
By: lee1 CommentI just moved into a new house, and there was a gap above our front door that could have doubled as a mail slot. A $3.14 roll of foam weather stripping will save us money ... and will keep birds from flying into the house.
By: Dan Mack0 CommentsOur dryer broke down a couple of years ago and instead of buying a new dryer my family decided to start hanging our clothes inside overnight, or put them outside in our backyard on a drying rack.
The Arizona heat will dry them fast and it saves us money and energy!
By: Ramirez Family0 CommentsWe've replaced all our old lights in our home with CFL's. They have to be recycled after they're burned out so we just take them to Home Depot where they can recycle them for us!
By: Frank Viticelli0 CommentsThe kids actually charge us 10 cents every time a light or ceiling fan is left on and no one is in the room. Has been quite the money maker for them.
By: Walker family2 CommentsWe limit showers to 5 minutes. With a family of 5 the hot water heating really adds up.
By: Dan Rodriguez2 CommentsWe think about what we want before we open the refrigerator. Maybe it's me but it doesn't sound like the fridge is running all the time.
By: Karen Franklin3 CommentsWe post the electric bill on our fridge and make it a family challenge to lower it each month.
